3 NYC Spots for Your Bachelorette Party or Rehearsal Dinner

Planning a celebration in New York City means you’re never short on options — but finding a room with the right energy for your crew is another story. Whether you’re gathering the bridesmaids for a night out or hosting family the evening before the “I dos,” these three spots each bring their own kind of magic to the table.

For the Bachelorette: NR (Upper East Side)

Tucked down a quiet residential block on East 75th Street, NR doesn’t announce itself — a small black sign is the only clue you’ve found it. That speakeasy-style anonymity is part of the appeal. Inside, the Meiji-era-inspired Japanese cocktail bar and ramen spot trades cookie-cutter UES crowds for a dark, intimate room where the cocktail bar is the true center of gravity.

Owner and bar director Shigefumi Kabashima (also behind ROKC in Harlem) crafts inventive drinks with real theater — think melon soda riffs and clarified martinis — while Chef Takashi Igarashi’s kitchen turns out Kyoto-style ramen and Hokkaido-style soup curry alongside a hip seafood tower, charred edamame, and delectable karaage fried chicken. It’s moody, a little secretive, and exactly the kind of “if you know, you know” spot that makes for a great bachelorette story — reserve a table for your group, since the room is small and fills up fast.

Good for: An intimate, stylish bachelorette dinner with a built-in cocktail hour and a menu everyone will be talking about.

For the Sports-Loving Crowd: The Splendid (Midtown)

If your rehearsal dinner crew skews toward game-day energy but you still want the room to feel special, The Splendid splits the difference. Located at 16 East 52nd Street near Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, it bills itself as an upscale sports bar — but the menu reaches well past nachos and wings, with a warm pistachio burrata (sweet cherry tomatoes, avocado, roasted grapes, aged balsamic, basil), a great focaccia with ricotta, honey and lemon olive oil, and a superb pan-seared wild salmon among the standouts.

From the team behind The Long Room, Half Pint, and Amity Hall (Stout NYC Hospitality Group), the cocktail program centers on a Freezer Martini and a mole-spiked margarita, with every screen in the house tuned to the game — so guests can catch the score without giving up a comfortable seat or a good meal. It’s open from breakfast through last call daily, which makes it flexible for a pre-dinner gathering or a full rehearsal dinner sit-down.

Good for: A rehearsal dinner or welcome party where you want elevated food and drinks without asking a mixed crowd to sit through a quiet, formal room.

For a rehearsal dinner with real occasion energy, Brasserie Cognac Américain delivers scale and pedigree. The newly opened, nearly 12,000-square-foot brasserie sits at 461 Fifth Avenue at 40th Street, overlooking Bryant Park and the New York Public Library, and comes from Serafina Restaurant Group in partnership with chef Michael Lomonaco — best known for his years leading the kitchen at Windows on the World, along with 21 Club and Porter House.

The menu leans into French brasserie tradition with an American, steakhouse-forward twist: escargots de Bourgogne, French onion soup, and an amazing tuna tartare — sushi-grade yellowfin with wasabi avocado and ponzu sauce — to start, then dry-aged cuts, duck à l’orange, moules marinières, and a standout lobster Américain for the table. A horseshoe-shaped bar and a prominent wine display set a glamorous, old-Paris tone that suits a celebratory toast. Ask about private dining — the space was built with large groups and events in mind.

Good for: A polished, upscale rehearsal dinner where you want a room — and a chef’s résumé — that matches the significance of the night.

All three restaurants take reservations well in advance, especially for groups; book early and confirm any private dining minimums directly with the restaurant.
