We’re flirting with pastels again after seeing Fionn and Andrew’s charming micro wedding in a minimalist Vancouver loft venue. Save their love for one another, less was truly more in this soft and poetic I Do spree. If the vendor team didn’t get the memo from Elyse & Co., then we certainly didn’t notice, for the cream velvet lounges and vintage walnut writing desk and metallic gold accents fit the design brief to a T. Enchanted Atelier flooded the minimalist loft scene with cool pastels in fluffy textures, bedecking everything from a romantic arch ceremony backdrop to a suspended floral install haloing the lounge. The aesthetic couldn’t have been better suited to the intimate guest count, further proving that microweddings can give you unlimited potential for expression. Chuunice Photography detailed every darling moment with grace and composure, and we are oh-so-ready for her pixel dust to finally cascade upon you too!

Fionn and Andrew had plans to get married in Italy; however, COVID had other plans and they had postponed and postponed, and finally decided to get married in BC instead. With health concerns in elders in the family, we wanted to create a romantic, fun and modern, but also intimate microwedding at the Wallace venue in North Vancouver, Canada. We created three distinct spaces for the wedding: a ceremonial arch, a lounge area with a floating floral display, and canapes and cocktail tables for guests to mingle.

From the Bride: I loved that we had a small, intimate wedding. We were able to truly be in the moment and enjoy all the little details. It was so special to be surrounded by our closest family and friends. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. A moment I’ll never forget is walking into the ceremony space for the very first time, taking in the beautiful florals hanging from the ceiling and covering the arch, and that electric feeling knowing that my husband was there, waiting to marry me.

This minimalist Vancouver loft venue couldn’t have fit the bill any better, and if you think you recognize it from a past feature, then indeed my friend, you do. I’m not saying I prefer microweddings, but I’m not not saying that either. Take this Tuscan-inspired autumn wedding for example… or this Seattle celebration overflowing with blossoms + blueberries. Point is – quality rules over quantity, and Fionn & Andrew can attest!

The 16th c still life vibes are REAL in this Renaissance art inspired wedding shoot designed by Baillie-David & Co. in a suite of rich jewel tones. An oatmeal velvet table linen sets the tone for a lavish feast with no creative stone left unturned – figs + berries are scattered across the scallop-edged place settings, while etched crystal wine glasses and handwoven napkins frame the details. In a word, it’s a masterpiece. The moody florals from Pollen Nation Floral Studio quite literally look like they were plucked from a Rembrandt themselves. Plum and chestnut hues tango with magentas and creams in the textural arrangements that make the eyes dance. Enter the dramatic ceremony backdrop: greenery climbing and spiraling in all directions from grounded statement pieces alive with flowering branches, baby artichokes and stock flowers to boot. Caileigh Langford transports us to the center of the canvas with her soft and poetic gallery that’s full of old world romance and intimate, knowing glances. So without further ado… shall we?

From the Planner, Baillie-David & Co.: My original source of inspiration for this shoot came from a photograph of fruit and pieces of paper with green paint on it. It reminded me of something you’d see in an Italian Renaissance painting and I knew right away I wanted to build the entire design around this concept. That’s why we chose the Ottawa Art Gallery as our setting.

I wanted to pay homage to nature and fine art of the period (e.g. the wild garden, figs on the plates, a paint brush in the flatlay, “vine” leaves going up the walls, twigs in the floral arrangements) while infusing modern elements (gold flatware and candles, dark chairs). My vision for the tablescape was to keep the table linen neutral while the other elements added some colour, similar to how you paint on a blank canvas.

The cake was meant to be a focal point and serve as the clearest representation of art in our shoot. That’s why our baker hand-painted the cake design, lovely strokes of “paint”.
